Overview
As the saying goes: teachers fear principals, principals fear parents, parents fear children—while children fear no one. In these last days (2 Tim. 3:2), the Fifth Commandment is urgently relevant.
THE EXPLANATION
Honour means esteeming and valuing. In Hebrew, it’s ‘make heavy’: regard parents asweighty and important—not beneath us—because God set them over us.
THE EXCELLENCE
God promises good to those who honour their parents and judgment to those who curse orattack them. Honour is wise—parents guard, guide, and grow us.
THE EXPRESSION
Honouring our parents is not just attitudinal; it is also actionable. There are concrete manifestations:

None of us keeps this Law; only Jesus did—honouring His parents and His Father perfectly. He died to cleanse our sins and credit us His righteousness. The Law exposes sin; Jesus saves. Repent and believe today.
