Numbers 20 records the close of 40 years of wandering,
and the passing of the old guard, as symbolised in the
funerals of Miriam & Aaron. God is going to lead a new
generation into the Promised Land.
The familiar themes of man’s faithlessness and God’s
faithfulness is repeated in this chapter. We see Israel’s
and Moses’ sins here, and God’s mercy still to provide
and to lead.
God is merciful, not mean. That gives comfort when
we go through trials and pains. God is merciful, and
we can come to Him as sinners asking for mercy.
